Meg Porteous

Research Assistant

Meg completed a Bachelor of Science (Botany) at the University of Melbourne in 2018, then completed a Master of Science (Biosciences) at the University of Melbourne in 2020, focusing on researching landscape ecology looking at plant fire adapted traits, as well as plant physiology.

After completing her studies Meg proceeded to work as a Consultant Environmental Scientist in which she developed skills in botany, data analysis, ecology, fieldwork, science communication, and GIS.

Meg is working as Melodie McGeoch’s research assistant, helping with lab management, social media management, and research into climate change and climate change impacts on several of the sub-Antarctic Islands, as a part of Theme 2 of the ARC funded Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF).
